Meal Planning 101

As I begin my week, I start by making a grocery list, based on my meal planning.  I may switch some things around by the time the day rolls around, but this is basically what I do. It helps me stay organized, since I have a busy life.

Saturday
Steak, baked potato, spinach, mushrooms and onions

Sunday
Lamb loin chops, twice baked potato and baby broccoli

Monday
Chicken Noodle Soup with veggies, sourdough toast

Tuesday
Salmon, veggie slaw salad

Wednesday
perhaps something from Trader Joe's

Thursday
Ham steak, baked beans

Friday
Pizza

Meal Planning and What's for Dinner?

Meal Planning and Cooking for 2
We grocery shop on Saturday for the week of cooking dinner.  I mostly buy enough for two of us, and the only leftovers we have are veggies, which are used for lunches during the week.  Here is last week and this weeks meal planning, to give you suggestions of what you could make for dinner.  This is cooking 101, nothing fancy, just good tasting food.  What's for Dinner?

Monday - We had frozen pizza - and we like DiGiorno - Classic Thin Crust Supreme Pizza, and I pick all of the green peppers off, before it goes in the oven.  Their pizza is alot of flavor, and a crisp crust.
Tuesday - Lamb Chops (baked in the oven at 350 degrees for about 30-45 minutes), sauteed sweet onions (diced) and steamed green beans with garlic, and rice pilaf.
Wednesday - Swordfish steaks, marinated in vegetable oil, with soy sauce, salt, and pepper (baked in the oven), steamed broccoli and Pillsbury Crescent Rolls (I used 4 and saved 4 for another night).
Thursday - went out to dinner for Mexican Food
Friday - Sirloin roast (seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic salt, baked in the oven at 350 degrees, till the meat therm reaches 130, and then let it rest for 10 minutes, before cutting), caramelized sweet onions, and Portobello mushrooms, and steamed asparagus (in microwave for 3 minutes in very little water).
Saturday - out for a nice dinner (the cook had the night off!)
Sunday - Steak cooked on the BBQ, baked potatoes, and steamed mushrooms
Monday - Baked Sockeye Salmon with plum jam on the top (baked at 350 for 30 minutes), steamed broccoli and rice pilaf
Tuesday - Marinated Lamb Roast (garlic, olive oil, rosemary), steamed green beans
Wednesday - Pork Chops, corn on the cob, applesauce and a side of sauteed onions

and I might change my mind when the new week rolls out, by what night I will serve what, and with what side dishes.  I try to be pretty flexible when it comes to making dinner.  Enjoy!

A Week of Meal Plans

I grocery shop on the weekends and make a list of the main dishes that I will be creating, then think of the side dishes to each one.  I have a busy life, and this seems to work for me.  My meal plans for this week:

Sunday - Corned Beef, cabbage, carrots and a tossed green salad
Monday - Marinated Swordfish steaks, wild rice, and baby broccoli
Tuesday - Pork Tenderloin, applesauce, Trader Joes Beans so Green, and rice pilaf
Wednesday - Shrimp Scampi, with garlic, pasta and a green salad
Thursday - Trader Joes Korean Short Ribs, mushroom risoto and a green salad
Friday - Let's see what is leftover from some of these dinners!
Saturday - Steak night!
